I saw my fair share of these on the skytrain before the ACDC concert, I had to bring up Amazon on my phone to explain my hysterical laughter to the girl I was with.

the "religion or science" question is one which I find very interesting. on this particular issue the pope is clearly wrong, but perhaps using catholicism to represent religion is a little like using the atom bomb to represent science?

I recently had a fascinating class called "the psychology of religion". in it, the students were fairly polarized between those who believed in god and those who believed in science, and it made for some good discussion & debate. but there's also a growing number of people (which I count myself a part of) who think that spirituality and science are not at odds, but are different aspects of the same thing. The convergence of these two fields seems inevitable.

A really fascinating article: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=104310443&sc=emaf

Although in the vast majority of cases it creates more closed-mindedness, bigotry, and atrophy-of-brain, I believe properly used, spirituality is the most efficient way to elevate consciousness and bring about evolution of the species.
